FIELD: fabrics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a nonwoven fabric having a first surface and a second surface. The nonwoven fabric contains thermoplastic fibers and includes substantially orthogonal fused portions (C) in which the fibers are thermally fused in a state wherein they cross each other at an angle of 70-90° as bonded portions (P), formed by thermal fusion, wherein the places of fibers crossing are subjected to thermal fusion. The nonwoven fabric contains fine fibers with a fiber diameter of 15 mcm or less. When at least one of the first surface and the second surface in the nonwoven fabric is examined at a magnification of 200 times within observation zones having a size of 500 mcm × 400 mcm, the proportion of fine fibers is 20% or more, and the proportion of substantially orthogonal fused portions is 35% or more, wherein the proportion of substantially orthogonal fused portions is the ratio of the number of portions (C) in which the fibers are fused in a substantially orthogonal state to the number of bonded portions (P) formed by thermal fusion and present in the viewing area.
EFFECT: non-woven fabric containing thermoplastic fibers and including substantially orthogonal fused portions.
