FIELD: medicine; surgery.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to abdominal surgery. During the abdominal stage of the Lewis operation, during the mobilization of the liver, in addition to the left triangular ligament, the round ligament of the liver is additionally crossed. Then the liver is moved, and the round ligament is fixed to the anterior abdominal wall 5–7 cm to the left from the initial point of its attachment.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to prevent the occurrence of postoperative encephalopathy during Lewis oesophageal resection, to reduce the time spent by the patient in the hospital, to reduce the risk of developing long-term consequences of the operation, and to improve the quality of life of patients.
