SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the creation and modernization of means for identifying ground targets. In the claimed method, a vector from the totality of all possible vectors of identification features of detected ground targets is taken as a vector of final estimates of identification features of detected ground targets, which corresponds to the reference model of the time-frequency code (TFC) with the largest number of matches with the upgraded TFC, which in turn is formed from the received TFC by excluding the moments of detection of pulses of response signals that do not correspond in range and current code to the detected ground targets. This leads to an increase in the number of matches of the modernized TFC with the TFC reference model of the true vector of identification features of detected ground targets and, as a result, leads to an increase in the probability of correct identification of ground targets.

EFFECT: increasing the probability of correct identification of ground targets.
