SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio engineering and can be used in designing means of identifying aerial targets. In the method of identifying ground targets, the final identification features of the detected ground targets are formed based on the identification of their coordinates with the coordinates of the terrestrial responders of the radar system with an active response (RSAR), determined by results of processing of coded response signals generated and transmitted by ground recipients of RSAR in response to two coded request signals, which in turn were sequentially formed and transmitted by the RSAR interrogator of the aircraft from two spatially spaced points located relative to each ground target at a certain angle.

EFFECT: technical result is higher probability of correct identification of ground targets in conditions of multi-purpose situation.
