SUBSTANCE: materials for electrodes of electrochemical energy storage systems. A method for manufacturing nanostructured electrodes from carbon felt with nanofibers formed on the surface, and can be used in the manufacture of electrodes, in particular, for vanadium flow batteries. As a precursor for the growth of nanofibers on the surface of carbon felt, a propane/butane gas mixture is used at a temperature of 750°C and nickel nanoparticles deposited on the surface of carbon felt by electrochemical deposition.

EFFECT: improving of the efficiency of the battery. Functionalization of the surface of the final electrode with a content of nanofibers from 2 to 15 wt.% is carried out by calcining in air, which simplifies the manufacturing process.
