SUBSTANCE: invention relates to displaying devices and, in particular, to projectors with double modulation (including laser projectors) and creation of halftone images in a pre-modulator of the specified projector. In the claimed method for image generation, halftone images are displayed on a pre-modulator of a displaying system with double modulation based on a pre-modulator activation signal during multiple subframe periods, during one frame period, so that halftone images produce a given progressive segmented frame (PSF), which compensates artefacts in light transmission, and the image is displayed on the main modulator of the displaying system with double modulation based on the main modulator signal, wherein the pre-modulator activation signal is synchronized with the main modulator signal.
EFFECT: increase in a contrast ratio at low light levels for small sizes of mosaic image elements.
