FIELD: catalytic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for producing sulfonic cationic catalysts, used in the petrochemical, chemical industries as a catalyst for organic synthesis, in particular, for the process of dehydration of tert-butyl alcohol into isobutylene, obtaining methyl tert-butyl ether. A method for producing sulfonic cationic catalysts is described, which consists in treating wood processing wastes - sulfonated lignins (lignosulfonates) with sulfuric acid at a temperature of 50-75 °C, followed by washing with water to remove excess sulfuric acid and drying, while the resulting product is subjected to additional steam treatment at a temperature of 100-130 °C to change the structure of the catalyst, increase its service life and catalytic properties.
EFFECT: development of a method for producing a catalyst for the dehydration of alcohols and esterification, which improves the physical and chemical and catalytic properties of the catalyst by modifying the structure of the catalyst.
