SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for generation of an output downmix representation. The first part of an input downmix representation is upmixed using an upmix scheme corresponding to the first downmix scheme to obtain the first upmixed part, wherein the first part of the input downmix representation is the first frequency band of a spectrum, and the second part of the input downmix representation is the second frequency band of the mentioned spectrum. The first upmixed part is downmixed in accordance with the second downmix scheme other than the first downmix scheme to obtain the first downmixed part. The first downmixed part is combined with the second part of the input downmix representation to obtain an output downmix representation.
EFFECT: increase in the efficiency of conversion of an input downmix representation.
