FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy, in particular to the production of metal by direct reduction in an electric arc furnace with a hollow electrode from oxide-containing or sulphide raw materials with simultaneous removal of harmful impurities such as phosphorus, sulphur, silicon in the process of high-temperature reduction to obtain a liquid-phase metal in the form of cast iron. Phosphorus-containing iron ore or concentrate is mixed with lime or limestone in a CaO/SiO2 ratio of 2.0-2.7 and a solid reducing agent in a stoichiometric ratio depending on the iron content in the resulting charge and is reduced in the electric arc burning zone when the charge is supplied from phosphorus-containing iron ore or concentrate, lime or limestone and a reducing agent through a hollow electrode into the arc burning zone of an electric arc furnace until the liquid phase metal is obtained in the form of cast iron with a residual phosphorus content of 0.1-0.15%.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain iron by direct reduction with simultaneous removal of harmful impurities in one stage and without preliminary preparation of the feedstock.
