FIELD: biomonitoring.
SUBSTANCE: determining the contribution of local emission sources (industrial enterprises, landfills, waste incinerators, etc.) of dioxin-like ecotoxicants to environmental pollution. In July-August, at least 6 individuals of the herbivorous rodent of the bank vole Clethrionomys glareolus are caught near a local source, from which two samples are formed, and at least 10 units of the insectivorous common shrew Sorex araneus, from which two samples are also formed. Then, four similar samples from individuals of these species are formed when catching them at a distance of 10-50 km from the studied local source in a conditionally clean area selected to determine the background values of dioxin-like ecotoxicants. In all samples, the content of these dioxin-like ecotoxicants is measured by high-resolution chromatography-mass spectrometry. The contribution of a local source to pollution is determined by the excess of the concentrations of dioxin-like ecotoxicants in samples from units of each species caught near the source over the background values in samples of the corresponding species. At the same time, the excess concentrations in the samples of the common shrew Sorex araneus indicate the water route of environmental pollution, and the excess concentrations in the samples of the bank vole Clethrionomys glareolus indicate the air route of environmental pollution.
EFFECT: simplification, increased accuracy and versatility of determining the contribution of local emission sources of dioxin-like ecotoxicants to environmental pollution.
