SUBSTANCE: cartridge (100) for use in an aerosol generating system (10) for generating an aerosol containing nicotine salt particles. The cartridge (100) consists of two compartments. The first compartment (110) contains a nicotine source (210) with a carrier first material (211) impregnated with nicotine. The first compartment (110) has a width (115) in the direction perpendicular to the first air flow path (217). The second compartment (120) contains an acid source (220) with a carrier second material (221) impregnated with acid. The second compartment (120) has a width (125) in the direction perpendicular to the second air flow path (227). The first compartment (110) and the second compartment (120) are arranged in parallel inside the cartridge (100). The width (115, 125) of at least one of the first compartment (110) and the second compartment (120) changes in the direction along the first air flow path (217) or the second air flow path (227), respectively.
EFFECT: more accurate regulation of the resistance to draw through the compartment containing the carrier material, more accurate control of the quantitative ratio of nicotine vapor and acid vapor, which helps to achieve an effective reaction stoichiometry, and also to reduce or weaken the effect of process deviations in the thickness of the carrier material on the volumetric air flow through both of the first and second compartments.
