FIELD: non-destructive testing.

SUBSTANCE: methods for non-destructive testing of materials by studying stray magnetic fields and can be used in high-speed two-line flaw detection of rails. The magnetizing unit of the mobile rail flaw detector contains solenoids connected by a magnetic circuit with the axes of the wheel pairs of the truck frame, each of the solenoids is located around the corresponding axis of the wheel pairs, the axles act as solenoids' cores. The axle diameters of the wheel pairs are selected from the condition of obtaining the required level of magnetic flux in the controlled rail, moreover, the solenoids are placed on the truck frame, and a certain gap is provided between the solenoid frame and the axle surface to ensure dynamic oscillations of the axle when managing rail track irregularities during the control process.

EFFECT: efficiency of the magnetodynamic control of rails is increased due to the optimal magnetization of the controlled object, and the design of the rail magnetization unit is simplified.
