FIELD: microbicides.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions related to microbicidal composition for reducing internal microbiological corrosion in pipelines for transporting oil and a corresponding method for reducing such corrosion. A microbicidal composition is claimed to reduce internal microbiological corrosion in pipelines for transporting oil, containing: nanoparticles based on lignin in an amount ranging from 2000-20000 ppm; a biocide in an amount in the range of 500-5000 ppm; a surfactant in an amount in the range of 100-1000 ppm; a corrosion inhibitor in an amount in the range of 50-500 ppm; and one alcohol, where the biocide is selected from the group consisting of aldehydes, tetrakis (hydroxymethyl) phosphonium sulphate, and combinations thereof; where the alcohol is ethanol; where the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of polyoxyethylene alkyl ether or linoleate and combinations thereof; where the corrosion inhibitor is selected from the group consisting of N,N-dimethylethanolamines; triethanolamine; and combinations thereof. In another embodiment, a method is provided for reducing microbiological corrosion (MIC) in transport pipelines, the method comprising the following: (i) venting and emptying a firing shaft to remove trace vapours, oil, and reduce pressure within the well to zero; (ii) introducing the first bi-directional pig (Bi-Di) together with the transmitter into the shaft of step (i) and administering the first dose of the microbicidal composition of claim 1; (iii) injecting crude oil through the pig launch line into the shaft of step (ii) to push the pig into the main pipeline and open the shaft valve and the pig launch line valve; (iv) closing the mainline valve and injecting a second dose of the microbicidal composition into the borehole, followed by opening the borehole valve, the pig launcher valve, and keeping the mainline valve closed; (v) starting booster pumps and pumping crude oil to supply the composition to the main pipeline for 10 minutes; (vi) repeating steps (iii-v) and installing a second bi-directional pig (Bi-Di) along with the transmitter after venting and emptying the launch barrel to obtain a reduced microbial count in the pipeline; and (vii) monitoring with the pig alert/tracking system, followed by opening the main pipeline valve and closing the pig launch line valve and the barrel valve.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides reduction of internal microbiological corrosion in pipelines for oil transportation.
