FIELD: production of lithium; lithium hydroxide; lithium carbonate.

SUBSTANCE: extraction of lithium, as well as production of lithium, lithium hydroxide and lithium carbonate. Phosphorus source material is added to the first solution containing lithium cations (Li+) and alkaline earth metal cations to obtain a lithium-containing precipitate containing magnesium, calcium, strontium and phosphorus. The total concentration of alkaline earth metal cations in the first solution is 100,000 mg/l or more. The phosphorus source material is added in an amount of 1-4 mol per 1 mol of lithium cations in the first solution. The dissolution rate of lithium in the lithium-containing precipitate is 60% or more, and the dissolution rate is calculated according to the following equation: lithium dissolution rate = A/B x 100, where B is the total concentration of lithium cations contained in the lithium-containing precipitate, mg/l, A is the total concentration of lithium cations in the filtrate obtained by stirring the lithium-containing precipitate in water at 90°C in an amount 15 times the weight of the lithium-containing precipitate and filtering the suspension, mg/l. Lithium hydroxide and lithium carbonate are obtained using the resulting lithium-containing precipitate.

EFFECT: inventions enable production of lithium carbonate or lithium hydroxide in a simple and effective way.
