SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing of undrained alkali metal residues including radioactive alkali coolant of NPPs with fast neutron reactors. The method includes filling a circulating loop with equipment with carrier gas and supplying a reagent gas mixture, heating the carrier gas, the reagent gas mixture and the circulating loop with equipment, monitoring the alkali metal residue processing via nitrogen emission, accumulating the solid products of alkali metal residue processing, determining the moment when the consumption of the reagent gas mixture by the alkali metal is complete via the cessation of nitrogen emission in the sealed gas circulation circuit, supplying solvent steam into the equipment, determining the moment when the consumption of the reagent gas mixture by the alkali metal is complete by the cessation of nitrogen emission in the sealed gas circulation circuit; feed solvent steam into the equipment; determining the presence of unreacted alkali metal via hydrogen emission in the circulation circuit, stopping the feeding feeding of solvent steam, if hydrogen is detected in the circulation circuit, repeating the undrained residual alkali metal processing until chemical reaction of solvent steam with the metal forming hydrogen has ceased.
