FIELD: producing ceramics.

SUBSTANCE: methods for producing ceramics based on aluminium oxynitride. Invention can be used for manufacturing of cutting tools, fire-resistant materials and metallurgical industry materials, infrared and transparent windows, and also for transparent armour. The claimed method for producing ceramics based on aluminium oxynitride consists in mixing the initial components in form of powders of aluminium nitride and aluminium hydroxide in isopropyl alcohol, drying the powders, homogenizing the powders, placing the powders in a graphite crucible, synthesizing the aluminium oxynitride phase in a nitrogen atmosphere at a temperature of 1850°С without application of pressure with an exposure of 15 min. Further firing is carried out at 1850°С using the method of hot pressing with the application of a specific pressure of 30 MPa with an exposure of 30 minutes.

EFFECT: production of dense ceramics with a high level of mechanical, physical and chemical properties.
