FIELD: instrumentation; diesel engines of motor vehicles.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to accurately determine the fuel consumption of a diesel engine at idle. The device is installed in the section in the line connecting the fuel tank with the coarse fuel filter 18 by connecting the flexible fuel supply hose 14 through the filter through the threaded fitting 16 to the supply line 3 of the engine 5, as well as in the section in the line connecting the fuel tank with the engine 5, by connecting the flexible hose 15 through the threaded fitting 17 to the drain line 4 of the engine 5. When measuring fuel consumption, the fuel drain valve 24 must be closed, and the valves 20, 21, 22 and 23 are open. The digital fuel level sensor 9, as well as the measuring scale 11 of the vertical glass tube 10, make it possible to visually track the fuel consumption when measuring fuel consumption. Communication with the atmosphere occurs due to the hole in the upper part of the glass vertical tube 10 and with the tap 20 open, as well as the upper part of the metal container 12, thus ensuring the equalization of the fuel level in all three communicating vessels before the start of measurements, as well as directly during measurements of diesel fuel consumption. The device is installed at the expense of the bubble sensor 6, and in the process of testing, its location in the horizontal and vertical planes is periodically monitored by adjusting the screws 6 of the tripod base supports. After the end of the measurements, the remaining fuel is removed from the flow meter through the drain cock 24.
EFFECT: possibility of measuring the fuel consumption of a diesel internal combustion engine at idle when using the required amount of fuel in the gauge tank of the device while ensuring the accuracy of the measurement results.
