FIELD: medicine; endodontic treatment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, specifically to a method of determination of breakage feature of nickel-titanium endodontic instrument. According to the method, the limit of cyclic fatigue of the nickel-titanium instrument is determined using simulation endodontic unit by applying mechanical, chemical and temperature loads to the nickel-titanium instrument. Calculated value is taken as 100% of the estimated tool life, then an identical nickel-titanium tool is used for its intended purpose until 70-80% of the previously determined expected life is depleted and the feature of its breakage is determined by means of liquid penetrant inspection, the result is used to assess the possibility of further use of nickel-titanium tool. The simulation endodontic unit contains five grooved channels filled with sodium hypochlorite solution, three of which include one bending angle each with values of 30°, 45° and 90° accordingly, the fourth channel includes two bending angles with values of 45° , and the fifth channel includes four bending angles with values of 45°.
EFFECT: ensures safety of mechanical treatment of root canals and reduces time for monitoring of NiTi files safe life.
