SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of using a medical tourniquet timer. The timer is attached to a medical tourniquet, the tourniquet is applied to the injured limb and the timer is turned on, after turning on the timer measures the ambient temperature. The timer automatically calculates the time of application of the tourniquet, after the said time the tourniquet is removed. The tourniquet application time is calculated according to the algorithm in accordance with the following steps: obtaining the ambient temperature value from the temperature sensor; calculating the temperature coefficient, calculating the maximum tourniquet application time, taking into account the calculated temperature coefficient, comparing the maximum tourniquet application time with the elapsed time. If the tourniquet application time exceeds the maximum tourniquet application time, the tourniquet removal time is indicated and the device waits for reactivation. If the device is switched on again, the mentioned algorithm is repeated with a repetition correction factor, at which the maximum time for applying the tourniquet is reduced by 4 times.

EFFECT: providing the possibility in an automated mode of determining the time of application of the tourniquet, taking into account the parameters affecting the biological processes in the human body, including on the basis of measurements of ambient temperature parameters.
