FIELD: veterinary surgery; plate veterinary retractor.

SUBSTANCE: plate veterinary retractor consists of a handle with a through longitudinal fixation hole on one side, and a rod with an operating element in the form of plate bent at a right angle relative to the rod on the other side. In the place of operating element bending u-shaped bend is made, its convexity is directed to the outer side of the operating element, which allows shift the plane of the operating element to the inner side of its corner. Free end of the operating element is made with a drop-shaped thickening for atraumatic contact with soft tissues, and rod of the plate veterinary retractor is made with a round fixation hole in the center, on the sides there are support pads for surgeon's index finger on one surface, and for resting on the animal's body on the opposite surface.

EFFECT: use of invention allows to increase atraumaticity, stability in a given position and coincidence of the lower outlet of surgical wound with its upper outlet, which is necessary for sufficient visualization of the wound (or cavity) bed, as well as for the convenience of surgical approach and performing cut down and surgical approach in the depth of the wound.
