SUBSTANCE: invention relates to endocrinology, gastroenterology, therapy and clinical laboratory diagnostics, and can be used to predict the risk of liver fibrosis in patients with obesity and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). In a patient with obesity and NAFLD on an empty stomach in blood plasma, the amount of resistin, insulin level and glucose concentration are determined, the insulin resistance index is calculated using the formula HOMA-IR = insulin×glucose/22.5. After that, the predicted risk of liver fibrosis is calculated according to the formula Y=-0.3826-0.0419⋅X1+0.1021⋅X2 where X1 is the HOMA-IR index, units, X2 is the amount of resistin, ng/ml. If the Y value is equal to or greater than 1, the risk of developing liver fibrosis in patients with obesity and NAFLD is predicted. If Y value is less than 1, no risk of liver fibrosis formation in patients with obesity and NAFLD is predicted.

EFFECT: method provides accessibility, objectification, increase in the accuracy of prediction of liver fibrosis formation through the use of a quantitative prediction criterion based on the results of a laboratory blood test.
