SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to gastroenterology, and can be used for prediction of development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Body weight index, epicardial adipose tissue thickness, intra-abdominal fat thickness are measured, thickness of the posterior wall of the left ventricle of heart and index of insulin resistance HOMA-IR. A prognostic index is calculated by formula: K = -24.9 + 0.81 × BMI + 1.06 × TEAT + 0.02 × TIAT + 0.6 × TLLPW -1.07 × HOMA-IR, where K is the prognostic index; BMI - body weight index, units; TEAT - thickness of epicardial adipose tissue, mm; TIAT - thickness of intraabdominal adipose tissue, mm; TLLPW - thickness of posterior wall of left ventricle of heart, mm; HOMA-IR - insulin resistance index, units If K is lower than 9.37 units, a low risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is predicted. If K is within 9.37 ≤ K ≤ 15.38 units predict an average risk of developing non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. If K is more than 15.38 units, a high risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is predicted.

EFFECT: method provides predicting development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease by calculating a prognostic index.
