SUBSTANCE: invention relates in particular to the frame structure of a passive optical network (PON). The technical result is achieved by the proposed method of communication of a passive optical network of the PON frame, said PON frame contains an integer number of code words with forward error correction (FEC) with a code word length of 17280 bits, while the FEC code words contain the first code word at the beginning of the PON frame, with only the first codeword containing a physical synchronization block (PSB).

EFFECT: increase of efficiency of the PON framing implementation.
