FIELD: medicine; therapy and pulmonology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to predict the severity of pneumonia in COVID-19. Upon admission to the hospital in patients with pneumonia with COVID-19, the concentrations of ferritin and C-reactive protein in the blood serum are determined. Then the ratio of these two proteins is found by dividing the concentration of ferritin by the concentration of C-reactive protein, and multiplied by 1,000. A coefficient value of up to 10 points means mild pneumonia can be predicted, and the values from 11 to 20 points means pneumonia of moderate severity, above 21 points — severe severity is predicted.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to increase the accuracy of predicting the severity of the course of pneumonia in COVID-19 by a method available for use in practical health care by determining the concentration of ferritin and C-reactive protein in blood serum.
