SUBSTANCE: invention relates to different options of the method for obtaining a halogenated cycloalkane compound. According to one of the options, the method includes: (I) contacting the catalyst with a hydrogen-containing gas to form a hydrogenated catalyst; and (IIa) reacting a halogenated cycloalkene compound and a hydrogen-containing gas in the presence of a hydrogenated catalyst to obtain a halogenated cycloalkane compound. The method is characterized by the following: the halogenated cycloalkane compound is a halogenated cycloalkane compound represented by the formula (2): where R¹, R², R³, R⁴, R⁵ and R⁶ are the same or different and each is a hydrogen atom, a halogen or a perfluoroalkyl group; when cis-trans isomers are present, both isomers are present; with the proviso that not all of R¹, R², R³, R⁴, R⁵ and R⁶ are hydrogen atoms. The invention also relates to a catalyst.
