SUBSTANCE: invention is related to structural elements of platforms cars intended for the transportation of timber. A platform car for transporting timber comprises a frame (1) with running gears (2), racks (3) installed along the side longitudinal sides of the frame and limiting the cargo area of the platform car. Racks (3) are rigidly fixed relative to the frame and are made in form of a three-dimensional geometric figure of variable section, tapering upwards. Each stand (3) is made up of several parts. Each part is made straight with flat vertical sides. Parts of each rack (3) are made of the same shape and rigidly interconnected to form a common flat inner surface of the rack (3) facing the cargo area. The cross-sectional area of the upstream part of the rack (3) is less than the cross-sectional area of the lower part of the rack (3), the geometric parameters of the racks (3) are selected based on the condition of placing timber in the cargo space in the permitted dimensions for the platform car.

EFFECT: invention simplifies manufacturing, increases the volume of transported cargo within the limits of fitting into the dimensions of the platform car, while ensuring the proper rigidity and reliability of the racks.
