FIELD: coal industry.
SUBSTANCE: method is proposed for degassing sections of a coal seam in a structurally heterogeneous rock mass in seismically active regions of coal basins. The method includes selecting a mining block and a mining column in the block, also includes driving development workings outlining the mining column, drilling degassing wells, sealing them and connecting the wells to a gas suction device with the possibility of changing the vacuum. Degassing wells of directional drilling are oriented normally to the surfaces of geological discontinuities and are located unevenly with an increase in their number in zones of geological discontinuities of the discontinuous type. The axes of the bundles of degassing wells of directional drilling outside the zone of geological discontinuities of the discontinuous type are located in such a way that the axes of the wells coincide within ±30° with the direction of the maximum horizontal stress vector.
EFFECT: increasing the safety of staff and improve the technical performance of the mine by reducing the gas content of the workings and unscheduled stoppages of the faces due to the gas factor when mining gas-bearing coal seams in seismically active areas.
