SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to control PWM controllers in converters for excitation of synchronous motors. The control unit of the PWM controller, potentially connected to the power circuit from the PWM controller, contains a power source, a master generator, a galvanic isolation unit, an amplifier, a protection unit, a sawtooth voltage generator, a mismatch amplifier, a comparison unit, a pulse shaper, logic elements "AND", "OR", transistor and thyristor pulse amplifiers, the outputs of which are connected to the control circuits of the IGBT transistor and thyristor without galvanic isolation. The rectifier contains a soft starter, a matching power transformer, a diode three-phase rectifier bridge, a constant voltage filter, a shunt resistor with a thyristor key, a PWM controller on an IGBT transistor module, ensures smooth turning on of the rectifier (eliminates inrush currents of the power transformer), high (close to unit) power consumption factor in all modes of operation, low distortion of the mains voltage waveform, high dynamic characteristics.
