FIELD: controlling position of gas-water contact.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for controlling the position of a gas-water contact. The method includes primary geophysical surveys in a non-perforated observation well. The geothermal gradient is determined at a steady thermal regime in each well prior to the introduction of formation waters into the gas deposit. A base of results of primary geophysical surveys of all wells is created with subsequent analysis and comparison of current temperature gradients obtained during repeated geophysical surveys for each well of the field with the baseline results. The upper limit of the depth intervals in which the value of the current temperature gradient steadily exceeds the initial geothermal gradient corresponds to the current position of the gas-water contact.
EFFECT: effective control of the process of gas displacement in the reservoir with simultaneous reduction of the risks of radiation accidents.
