FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an antibacterial additive in paints or coatings based on copper (I) oxide nanoparticles, as well as to a method for its production. The group of inventions can be used in public places to prevent the spread of viruses, bacteria, fungi and mould. An antibacterial paint additive based on copper (I) oxide nanoparticles characterized by the composition Cu2O/X/Al2O3, where X is SiO2 or TiO2 nanoparticles, is proposed. A method for obtaining said antibacterial additive is also proposed, including mixing copper (II) sulphate, alkali, SiO2 or TiO2, glucose, Al2O3 in water with constant stirring and without additional heating. The new additive for paints and coatings has highly effective antibacterial properties, is characterized by no undesirable effect of the additive on the properties of the paint, in particular, it does not stimulate the formation of inclusions and lumps, and also does not affect adhesion.
EFFECT: method of obtaining an antibacterial additive is simple, one-step and does not require heating or toxic reagents.
