FIELD: medicine; orthodontics.
SUBSTANCE: corrective apparatus for treating children with bilateral fractures of the condylar processes of the lower jaw contains a base for the upper jaw with a vestibular arch, a base for the lower jaw and occlusal pads connected to the bases with inclined surfaces for displacement and fixation of the lower jaw. The inclined surfaces are provided with guide slots with triangular or arcuate cross sections and mating guide lugs for movement in the guide slots. Inclined surfaces slide over each other in the longitudinal direction and push the lower jaw with the physiological traction of their own masticatory muscles. Guide slots and guide lugs position the lower jaw in the physiological position of central occlusion with accurate reposition of displaced fragments without lateral displacement.
EFFECT: possibility of conservative reposition of displaced condylar processes in case of double fracture of the lower jaw in children during mixed dentition due to physiological traction of masticatory muscles, unloading of the temporomandibular joint, relieving spasm of masticatory muscles and eliminating displacement of the lower jaw both when opening the mouth and in the state of physiological occlusion.
