FIELD: gas processing.

SUBSTANCE: process for the catalytic destructive hydrogenation of by-product process gases to produce methane, in which hydrogen-containing by-product gas is mixed under pressure to form a total flow with natural gas liquids (NGL) containing C3 -C4 hydrocarbons, in a ratio that provides full conversion of C2 -C5 hydrocarbons contained in the total flow into methane with a purity of at least 99% by weight. The resulting total flow is heated to a temperature of 250-320°C, allowing catalytic hydrodesulfurization of the flow, the resulting flow is purified from hydrogen sulfide. The purified flow is subjected to destructive hydrogenation to produce methane. The invention also relates to the method and installation for the catalytic destructive hydrogenation of by-product process gases for the production of methane.

EFFECT: gas processing into a product with a methane content of at least 99% by weight and at the same time with a minimum content of sulfur gases.
