FIELD: destructive testing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to destructive methods for reconstructing the thickness distribution of the longitudinal component of residual stresses in an elastic bar of arbitrary cross section based on cutting it into thin strips and measuring their deformations. Thin parallel strips are successively cut off from the upper face of an elastic rib on a rigid base, for each of which the deflection is measured during its longitudinal bending, and from these data the distribution of intrinsic deformations and residual stresses over the depth of the rib is calculated using formulas.
EFFECT: increased accuracy in determining the distribution of residual stresses and intrinsic deformations in an elastic beam of rectangular cross section fixed on a rigid base.
