FIELD: medical radiology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to prevent cerebral forms of acute radiation sickness. More specifically, the invention relates to the use of the drug potassium orotate as a means of preventing the cerebral form of acute radiation sickness. The invention prevents the development of dysfunctions of the central nervous system characteristic of the cerebral form of acute radiation sickness when exposed to doses of 150–200 Gy, improving the performance of behavioral and exploratory activities, and reducing the frequency of motor-coordination disorders.
EFFECT: invention allows to expand the arsenal of pharmacological agents for the prevention of cerebral form of acute radiation sickness with an affordable drug with a convenient single use.
