The bit screwing and unscrewing tool is sized and shaped to receive a drill bit for a drilling rig and is configured to resist torque that is applied to the drill bit by the drilling rig's loosening pipe wrench. The bit holding device is configured to be connected to the drilling rig. The bit holding device is configured to move the drill bit directly to bit screwing and unscrewing tool when it is aligned with the drill pipe of the drilling rig. The bit holding device is a pipe configured to hold a drill bit and having an internal thread.
