FIELD: abrasive surface treatment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for modifying the surface of a fuel rod cladding made of ferritic-martensitic steel. Powder for magnetic-abrasive surface treatment contains a ferromagnetic matrix with 5%α aluminium oxide αAl2O3 and has a size of 100-300 microns. The method for modifying the surface of a tubular cladding of a fuel element includes magnetic-abrasive treatment in a facility with a magnetic system based on permanent magnets with the formation of a uniform oxide layer on said surface. The surface to be treated is placed between the rotating magnetic poles of the magnetic system and processed by rotating the tubular shell at a rotation speed of 100-200 rpm with simultaneous movement of the magnetic system along the rotation axis with a displacement frequency of 100-150 cycles/minute for 2-3 minutes.
EFFECT: increased corrosion resistance of ferritic-martensitic steel.
