FIELD: finishing of metal part surfaces in mechanical engineering and metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves providing microalloying of surface layer by magnetic abrasive working of said surface at magnetic abrasive cutting speed of at least 500 m/min, magnetic field intensity in working gap between poles of 0.4-0.7 T and gap size of 2-5 mm. Magnetic abrasive powder used for surface working comprises carbides of metals of IV-VI groups of periodic system. Method allows mechanical cleaning to be combined with surface leveling and microalloying of surface layer with transition metals and effected for single operation. Upon working of surface by said method compressing forces are permanently created to improved protective properties of oxide film formed on thereon.
