FIELD: computer technologies.
SUBSTANCE: method for stereo coding. The technical result is achieved by a decoding method designed to obtain an output stereo signal from an input stereo signal encoded by complex prediction stereo coding and including first representations of two input channels in the frequency domain, includes the following upmixing steps: (i) calculating a second representation of the first input channel in the frequency domain; and (ii) calculating an output channel based on the first and second representations of the first input channel in the frequency domain, the first representation of the second input channel in the frequency domain, and the complex prediction factor. The upmixing may be suspended in response to control data.
EFFECT: increasing the efficiency of stereo coding in the range of high bit rates.
