FIELD: medicine, neurology and neurosurgery.
SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for differential diagnosis of brain concussion, and mild, moderate and severe brain contusion. The method includes measuring the concentration of biomarkers IL-6, sCD40L, CXCL9/MIG in cerebrospinal fluid, followed by comparison of the obtained concentration of biomarkers with threshold values according to the algorithm. At the first stage, the concentration of IL-6 is evaluated, and if the value is less than 11.4 pg/ml a concussion of the brain is diagnosed, if a value is more than or equal to 11.4 pg/ml a brain contusion is diagnosed. At the second stage, the concentration of sCD40L is assessed, and if the value is in the range from 11.4 to 29.0 pg/ml a mild brain contusion is diagnosed, and if a value is greater than or equal to 29.0 pg/ml moderate or severe contusion is diagnosed. At the third stage, the concentration of CXCL9/MIG is determined, and of the value is greater than or equal to 29.0, but less than 86.2 pg/ml, a moderate brain contusion is diagnosed, and if a value is greater than or equal to 86.2 pg/ml a severe contusion is diagnosed.
EFFECT: method provides expanding the arsenal of tools used for differential diagnosis of severity in patients with traumatic brain injury and its more accurate determination due to the algorithm for assessing diagnostic biomarkers in cerebrospinal fluid.
