FIELD: ferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: production of reduced pellets from ferrous cake of nickel production. Ferrous cake of nickel production is mixed with a binder to form a charge, which is moistened to 20-30% moisture, and then poured to form pellets. The pellets are dried to a moisture content of not more than 10% moisture at a temperature of not more than 300°C and then subjected to oxidizing firing at a temperature of 800-1100°C. The pellets are cooled to a temperature of not more than 400°C, mixed with a carbon reducing agent in an amount of at least 15% by weight of dry pellets and fed for reducing firing at a temperature of 1100-1350°C. The resulting pellets contain iron, nickel and have the following ratio of components, wt.%: Fe 70.0-95.0; Ni 1.0-5.0; inevitable impurities - the rest.
EFFECT: processing of ferrous cakes of nickel production is provided with the production of reduced pellets with a high nickel content, suitable for use in ferrous metallurgy.
