FIELD: radio engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for use in non-linear radars. The technical result is achieved by forming a probing radio signal in form of a periodic sequence of radio pulses, containing within each period the first radio pulse and the second radio pulse following the first, having different amplitudes, but the same energy at the frequency of the fundamental harmonic. Radio waves are directed to the detection zone of NED, radio waves reflected from them are caught, the component is isolated in form of the first and second received radio pulses, the output signal is obtained in form of the first and second pulses, the ratio of the level of the first pulse of the output signal at the moment of the end of the first received radio pulse to the level of the second pulse at the end of the second received radio pulse is measured, and if this ratio of levels differs from the value of super-permissible boundary values established taking into account measurement errors and the influence of radio interference, a decision is made on the presence of passive radio-electronic devices in the field of view.

EFFECT: simplification of the design and increase in the detection range of non-linear electronic devices (NED).
