FIELD: pharmaceutical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for the purification of beta-propiolactone, which is carried out by high-performance liquid chromatography using octadecylsilyl silica gel as a stationary phase and an eluent based on a water-acetonitrile mixture with further isolation of beta-propiolactone by extraction from an aqueous solution with methylene chloride, evaporation of the extractant at room temperature and pressure not higher than 30 mbar, at a ratio of components, wt.%: acetonitrile 4-6, water 94-96.
EFFECT: effective method for purification of beta-propiolactone, which leads to the production of high-purity beta-propiolactone.
