SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing low molecular weight composite homogeneous polymers of acrylonitrile and its copolymers by radical polymerization in the presence of N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide. A method for producing a compositionally homogeneous low molecular weight polymer based on acrylonitrile (AN) with a narrow molecular weight distribution by weight is described, characterized in that N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide is added to the polymerization system, which includes a monomer and, optionally, a radical polymerization initiator (MMO), optionally in the presence of an organic solvent; where the method is carried out in an atmosphere of inert gas when heated.

EFFECT: obtaining low molecular weight (co)polymers with a molecular weight of about 1 kDa (MM) and a narrow molecular weight distribution and a comonomer content of 15 to 20 mol%.
