FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to sulphonated copolymers having antiviral activity on human respiratory syncytial virus A-2. Copolymers are compounds of formula: [A]m[B]n, in which A is a sodium styrene sulphonate unit, B is a vinyl comonomer unit, m=1÷93 mol.%, n=100 mol.%. Intrinsic viscosity of copolymers [η] is 0.22–1.34 dl/g in 0.1 n NaCl at 25 °C. Copolymers are obtained by radical copolymerisation in water or an aqueous-organic solvent in the presence of a radical initiator.
EFFECT: obtained copolymers have low cytotoxicity and high antiviral activity with respect to human respiratory syncytial virus A-2.
