FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the manufacture of latex paints. The ground product based on nonionic synthetic associative thickener (NSAT) intended for use in water-based paint and/or coating compositions has an average particle size of 0.5 to 5.0 mm. At the same time, at least 10 wt.% NSAT is retained on a sieve with holes measuring 1.18 mm (No. 16). An aqueous composition of the coating and a method for its production are also proposed.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to add a crushed product based on NSAP at any stage of water-based coating production, while complete dissolution of the thickener occurs in the absence of lumps for no more than 30 minutes of mixing.
