SUBSTANCE: used to create lithium-ion batteries. A method for producing a composite anode material TiNb2O7/C for lithium-ion batteries includes grinding, fine mixing and activation of a reaction mixture containing oxides of titanium and niobium, as well as one or more transition metal compounds, which are suppliers of substitute ions, from oxides, hydroxides or salts; heat treatment; cooling; dispersion and surface modification with carbon. The presence of substituent ions and the creation of a carbon-containing electronically conductive surface coating can improve the power characteristics of TiNb2O7.

EFFECT: obtaining, using mechanical activation, nanostructured composite materials based on Ti1-xMxNb2O7/C and in improving their power characteristics when used in lithium-ion batteries.
