FIELD: hydroacoustics.
SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for the recognition of objects by their noise emission. Method comprises receiving noise emission signal, spectral processing using FFT, determination of amplitudes A and frequencies F of spectral components in the processing band of noise emission sources, measuring and analysing the entire noise emission spectrum in the selected frequency range, measuring the lower frequency of the spectrum FL and the amplitude An of the received noise emission source, measure the upper frequency of the spectrum FU and the amplitude of the upper frequency AU, determine the average frequency of the spectrum FAV = 0,5 (FU + FL), select the part of the spectrum related to the low frequency (FAV - FL), determine the part of the spectrum, related to high frequency (FU - FAV), determine the correlation coefficient between the amplitudes of the lower part of the spectrum and the amplitudes of the upper part of the spectrum, and decide that the spectrum belongs to one noise source if the correlation coefficient exceeds 0.7.
EFFECT: determination of the presence of a noise source belonging to one real object, and not a random combination of unknown noise sources, while reducing hardware costs.
