DEVICE FOR NEUROMODULATION Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC A61N1/36 A61B5/11

Abstract RU 2799359 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a device for neuromodulation and a method for its installation. The device for neuromodulation contains electrodes, each of which contains an electrically conductive element for application to the patient's skin, a pulse generator electrically connected to each electrode, and a control unit connected to the pulse generator. The control unit is configured to periodically measure the resistance and/or current-voltage characteristics between the electrodes, as well as to control the shape of electrical pulses based on the measured resistance and/or current-voltage characteristics and to dynamically control the internal resistance of the pulse generator based on the results of periodic measurements of resistance and/or or current-voltage characteristics. The electrodes are applied to the patient's skin at the location of the target modulated nerve. Initial position calibration is initiated by measuring the resistance and/or current-voltage characteristic between the electrodes. The position of the electrodes is moved or changed while the resistance and/or current-voltage characteristic between the electrodes are periodically measured and recorded. The variation of the registered resistance and/or the registered current-voltage characteristic is determined.

EFFECT: dynamic adaptation of the device for neuromodulation to changing conditions of the patient affected by the neuromodulator is achieved, as well as finding the correct position of the electrode relative to the nerve to be modulated, thereby ensuring effective modulation of this nerve due to the effective direction of the neuromodulation signal from the signal generator to the target nerve.
