NEUROMODULATION TREATMENT DEVICE AND METHOD Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC A61N1/36

Abstract RU 2742502 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a neuromodulation treatment of human bladder hyperactivity symptoms using a neuromodulation device for stimulating peripheral nerves. Device comprises a memory, a pulse generator to which electrodes are attached for attachment to the patient's foot near branches of peripheral nerves and for stimulation of peripheral nerves of the patient's leg. Device control unit is connected to electrodes to set parameters of generated pulse. Sensor in the device response detector detects the reflex movement of the stimulated leg during stimulation. Control unit automatically sets current of generated pulses depending on information on frequency of reflex motions of stimulated leg by frequency comparison, received from detector, with expected frequency of reflex movement stored in memory. Based on the comparison, it is determined that the active electrode is positioned correctly on the patient's leg if the frequency obtained from the detector is equal to or greater than the expected frequency stored in the memory. Active electrodes are attached to the patient's body so that to provide stimulation of the sacral plexus or sciatic nerve. Electric pulses are generated in electrodes. Pulse current is set and time of each pulse is synchronized.

EFFECT: more accurate stimulation of the target peripheral nerve in the patient's leg, the secondary effect of which is the stimulated leg reflex movement, which is used to search for optimal frequency of stimulation for treating a disease not associated with reflex leg movement.
