FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a device for neuromodulation and a method of neuromodulation using this device. The device contains a set of active electrodes, a reference electrode, a pulse generator, and a control unit. The active electrodes are electrically isolated from each other and located in a group of electrodes. Each active electrode contains an electrically conductive element for application to the patient's skin. The reference electrode is designed for application to the patient's skin. The pulse generator is electrically connected to each active electrode of the plurality of active electrodes and is configured to selectively transmit electrical pulses to each of the plurality of active electrodes. The control unit is connected to the electrical pulse generator and is configured to measure the resistance and/or current-voltage characteristics between each active electrode from the set of active electrodes and the at least one reference electrode. When performing the method, a set of active electrodes is applied to the patient's skin at the likely location of the target nerve that is to be stimulated or modulated. A reference electrode is applied to the patient's skin. Using the control unit, the resistance and/or current-voltage characteristic is measured between each active electrode of the set of active electrodes and the specified reference electrode. Using the control unit, active electrodes located in the same group are evaluated based on their corresponding measured resistance values and/or current-voltage characteristics. Active electrodes with the lowest resistance values and/or current-voltage characteristic values are selected to receive an electrical pulse generated by a pulse generator electrically selectively connected to each active electrode from a set of active electrodes. The control unit controls the shape of the electrical pulses generated by the pulse generator based on a specified measured value.
EFFECT: invention provides dynamic adaptation of neuromodulation to the changing conditions of the patient, increases the reliability of determining the location of the electrode in the group of electrodes to which electrical impulses should be applied due to the selection of electrodes with the lowest resistance values and/or current-voltage characteristic values measured between the evaluated electrode and the reference electrode.
